Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Singapore
Singapore’s Church of Our Lady of Lourdes is an impressive neo-Gothic Catholic Church, which is modelled on the Lourdes (France) church with the same name. Inside the Church is a grotto (cave) with statues of Our Lady appearing to Saint Bernadette.
Opened in 1888, Church of Our Lady of Lourdes is the first Tamil Catholic church in Singapore. It bears a resemblance to “San Thome Basilica” in Chennai, which was also built around the same time (1893). In addition to English, the Church also has mass service in Tamil and sometimes in Singhalese.
